When you add a domain name as hosted in some account, you normally set a pair of Name Servers to direct it to that specific service provider. On their end, 3 records are created automatically right after the domain address is added - one A record and two MX records. The first one is a numeric address, or IP address, which “tells” the domain name where its site is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they reveal the server that manages the emails for that specific domain. The website and the e-mail hosting are usually perceived as one thing, while they're actually two different services. Having separate records for them will permit you to have them with different providers if you would like. For example, some new provider could have superb uptime for your site, but you might not want to switch your emails from your current host and by using an A record to point the domain address to the former and MX records to have the emails with the latter, you could get the best of both providers. These records are checked when you want to open a site or send an email - in any case, the provider whose name servers are used for the domain is going to be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you've set records different from their own, the right web/mail server will then be contacted and you're going to see the needed website or your e-mail will be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Website Hosting

If you have a website hosting plan through us, you will be able to view, create and modify any A or MX record for your domain names. So long as a specific domain has our Name Servers, you will be able to change particular records through our Hepsia hosting Control Panel and have your website or emails pointed to another provider if you would like to use only one of our services. Our sophisticated tool will enable you to have a domain address hosted here and a subdomain below it to be hosted someplace else by modifying only its A record - this will not affect the main domain the slightest bit. If you choose to use the email services of another service provider and they want you to set up more than 2 MX records, you can easily do that with just a couple of clicks through the DNS Records section of your Control Panel. You can also set different latency for every single MX record i.e. which one is going to have priority.
